Storms and Floods

Tropical Storms

In the Western Pacific:

Typhoon Utor made landfall at 3:50 p.m. in Yangxi county in the city of Yangjiang in western Guangdong province in China after claiming at least 6 lives in the Philippines.

Heavy downpours have been reported in Northern Thailand. Several flash floods and landslides have been reported in Mae Sot and Phop Phra districts.

A cargo ship has sunk 80 km southwest of Hong Kong in the waves created by Typhoon Utor. Rescue teams from Hong Kong and the Chinese mainland have saved 21 crew members.

More than 158,000 people have been evacuated from Guangdong and Hainan province of China following a Red alert.

Deadly Lightning

Lightning in the Rolpa district of Nepal has claimed the lives of two people.

Five women were killed after being struck by lightning in separate incidents in Kaushambi and Uttar Pradesh, India.
