Fruit Production Devastated

The fruit industry in Ontario, Canada has been devastated by extreme weather. The apple and soft fruit crops have been severely hit by unseasonal cold snaps, a warm winter and an early blooming period. Crop losses are estimated to be between 30% in the case of soft fruit and 80% in the case of the apple crop. Farmers will require state assistance to be able to weather the disaster.
