Wildfires in Australia
New wildfires flared across Australia on Tuesday as temperatures soared to near record levels, fanned by hot outback winds.
Fire officials declared five areas of southern NSW as catastrophic, meaning if fires ignited they could not be controlled and advised people to evacuate. Of the more than 100 fires, 20 fires were burning out of control on Tuesday.
A String of bushfires continue to burn across northern South Australia but are not causing concern. The fires, including some which have been burning since Christmas, are in remote areas and are just being left to burn.
