Wildfires - Oregon

Here are updates on significant wildfires in Oregon:

Yellow Point: An uncontained wildfire about 25 miles west of Cottage Grove doubled in size from Saturday afternoon to Sunday morning. But officials say that despite struggles with the rocky terrain, fire crews are making progress to contain the 550-acre blaze.

The fire started shortly after 5 p.m. Friday. It has burned private land and federal Bureau of Land Management property but no homes or structures. Fields said no threat exists to even the closest structure, which is 1.5 miles northeast of the fire.

Weather conditions, including humidity, are helping crews and are expected to continue for a few days. Steep rocky cliffs, though, pose a challenge to containment.

Corvallis fire: A fire popped up late Friday night, forcing the evacuation of residents in more than 200 homes.

By 5 a.m. Saturday, the blaze was fully contained and had burned 150 acres of public space.

Deception Complex: The 3,191-acre fire is not 55 percent contained. Fire crews are taking advantage of the weather conditions to work on burning out parts of the area.

The burn is expected to continue decreasing as a cold front moves in next week.

790: Fire officials will update residents on the fire burning about 10 miles from Prospect at 7 p.m. Monday night at the Prospect Community Centre, 305 Red Blanket Road.

The 2,900-acre fire is 30 percent contained. On Saturday, officials closed the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest lands between the middle form of the Rogue River and Whiskey Springs Campground.
