Tropical cyclone 09p (Imogen), located approximately 339 nm west of Cairns, Australia, is tracking southeastward at 09 knots

Malaysia – About 1,000 people in Malaysia’s southern state of Johor have been placed in temporary evacuation centres after flooding caused by two days of heavy rain which started on Friday (Jan 1). Four districts – Kulai, Johor Bahru, Kluang and Kota Tinggi – were hit by flooding.
Australia – Persistent unpredictable bad weather had caused dangerous flash flooding around the mid north coast, closing bridges and roads. A Woolworths and local motel have been flooded and the roof of an aged care facility has partially collapsed after an intense cloudburst in central western NSW. Parkes received 31mm of rain in just 17 minutes during the Saturday afternoon downpour. By Sunday morning the town had recorded 52mm in total. The storm also brought damaging winds and large hailstones.
New Zealand – Heavy rain and hail has caused flooding leading to road closures in parts of the country. Heavy rain and hail hits Timaru and Waimate. More than 50 Auckland beaches declared no-swim zones.
