Tropical Storms – Roundup of Tropical Storms:

In the Eastern Pacific Ocean: Hurricane 06e (Felicia), located approximately 1135 nm east of Hilo, Hawaii, is tracking westward at 14 knots.

Tropical depression 07e (Guillermo), located approximately 868 nm south-southwest of San Diego, is tracking westward at 14 knots.

In the Northwest Pacific Ocean: Typhoon 09w (In-Fa), located approximately 149 nm southeast of Kadena AFB, is tracking west-northwestward at 10 knots.

Typhoon 10w (Cempaka), located approximately 119 nm west-southwest of Hong Kong, is tracking northwestward at 01 knots.

China – Two reservoir dams failed in locations near Hulunbuir City in the autonomous region of Inner Mongolia, on 17 July 2021. The dams failed after a period of heavy rainfall. Over 200mm of rain fell in some areas, causing dams to fail in 2 separate locations. Nearby areas were flooded and authorities initiated an emergency response, carrying out households checks and search and rescue operations. According to media reports, bridges and roads were destroyed and wide areas of farmland inundated. Over 16,000 people in the area are thought to have ben affected by the floods.

Colombia – Overflowing rivers and flash floods have affected parts of Antioquia Department in northwest Colombia since mid-July 2021. 2 people died after their vehicles was swept away by flash floods in Santo Domingo municipality on 17 July. Meanwhile one person died after heavy rains caused the sudden increase of the Buey river in Montebello Municipality. As many as 36 homes were in danger of collapsing into the river after the floods wiped out around 40 metres of river bank.

Iran – Flash flooding, storms and heavy rainfall have affected 15 provinces of Iran over the last week, causing fatalities, displacements and emergency rescues. 2,578 people were affected, 611 people have been displaced from their homes and 58 people had to be rescued. According to Red Crescent reports, 7 people died in floods while 1 person was killed as a result of lightning strike. Among the fatalities are two people who went missing after vehicles were swept away by flash floods in Baft county, Kerman Province on 17 July.
