Polio - Pakistan

A 10-month child from union council Ghulam Khan in North Waziristan has died after being confirmed with wild polio. This is the 20th case of will poliovirus recorded in Pakistan this year.

Ebola - Uganda

Uganda health authorities reported three additional confirmed Ebola (Sudan Virus Disease) cases on Saturday, bringing the total confirmed cases to 41. One additional confirmed death was also reported, bring this total to nine. In an effort to keep the disease from crossing the border into neighboring Kenya, motorists travelling to Kenya via Malaba border are required to undergo mandatory screening at the border.

Bird Flu

Netherlands - The Netherlands is to cull around 102,000 chickens on a farm in the northern city of Kiel-Windeweer after the detection of a highly infectious strain of bird flu, the government said on Tuesday.

Colorado, USA - On Thursday, Colorado Governor Jared Polis issued an Executive Order declaring a state of disaster emergency due to the Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) in Colorado. HPAI was first detected in wild birds in Colorado on March 24, 2022. The disease was detected in domestic poultry on April 8, 2022. As of September 21, 2022, HPAI has been confirmed in 17 Colorado counties, with cases occurring in wild, domestic, and commercial flocks.
