Nigeria - Seventy-six people have died as their boat capsized while they tried to flee dangerously high floodwaters that have inundated swathes of southern Nigeria. The boat, carrying more than 80 people, capsized in the southeastern state of Anambra on Friday, as people desperately tried to escape floods that had risen as high as rooftops. Recent flooding in the area had displaced up to 600,000 people, according to the country’s National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).

Central America - Torrential rains from Julia were scattered across a broad swath of Central America on Monday, as the former hurricane entered what’s expected to be its last day as a tropical cyclone before fading on Tuesday. Localized flooding will continue as a threat, as rich moisture flows across mountainous terrain in the wake of Julia. At least six deaths associated with Julia across Central America and Mexico. Were reported. In Honduras, well north of Julia’s track, three confirmed deaths in Honduras, with one woman missing were reported, as well as seven people missing from a capsized boat.

Bali - Five people were killed after the last few days’ rainfall inundated parts of Bali with floods, while dozens of others situated in tourist hotspots had to be evacuated out of their villas. Three people were killed after floods collapsed Erlangga Road, which connected Bangli and Karangasem, on Saturday. Two of the victims were in a car while another was on his motorbike when a landslide hit. A landslide also killed a construction worker in Gianyar on Saturday. The 22-year-old man was buried by while working at a construction site for a villa.
