Wildfires - Chile
Emergency crews are working to contain wildfires in Biobio Region as of early Dec. 31. Red (the highest level on a four-tier scale) alerts for the Los Angeles, Cabrero, Nacimiento, Santa Juana, and Yumbel communes were issued. Residents in La Huerta and Curamavida (Santa Juana) and Monterrey and El Peral (Nacimiento) have been ordered to evacuate. Emergency responders may implement road closures or order additional evacuations at short notice, depending on evolving wildfire conditions and operational needs. Smoke from the fires could cause poor air quality in the affected area. The fires could also lead to power supply disruptions.
