Rainstorm in Tamale region of Ghana has claimed one life.


Flash floods destroyed at least one hundred houses.

Landslide on the Azores


A landslide in the village of Faial da Terra on Sao Miguel Island (Azores Islands) has claimed two lives and destroyed three houses.

Windstorm in Bulgaria


A strong windstorm with wind speed over 120 km\h hit the Gabrovo region of Bulgaria. A 20-year-old woman died in hospital after she was hit by scaffolding swept away by the wind.


State of emergency has been declared in Gabrovo district of Bulgaria. Train services between Tryavna-Plachkovtsi have been suspended.


Tropical Cyclone Tim is churning the Coral Sea but is no threat to land at present.

Cold and Snow in Russia


Central Russia is bracing itself for a powerful snowy cyclone, one that may prove the most powerful for March in the past half a century, according to weather forecasters. Anomalous snowfalls with gusts of wind are due in the Moscow Region later today. The peak of bad weather is expected on Friday and Saturday. Up to 25 centimetres of snow may fall summarily. All public utilities in Moscow have been alerted.


But weather has uncorked some unpleasant surprises in other Russian regions, too.


An avalanche has engulfed a small town of Ust-Katav in the Chelyabinsk Region, luckily, without any loss of life. In Voronezh, a powerful snowfall caused numerous road accidents.

Landslides:


At least eight people have died in landslide in Mofala of Sinja region in Jumla, Nepal. The landslide collapsed a house killing eight, including five members of same family.


Landslide in Sylhet, Bangladesh has killed three people and injured 10 others.


Landslide in Kudpora Waghama, in Bijbehara area, India has killed a 15 years old girl and injured 2 others.


Mudslide in Heilongjiang, China


At least eight miners are trapped in a mudslide in Zhenxing coalmine in Heilongjiang province of Northeast China.


Chinese mine disasters are the deadliest in the world.

Thunderstorm in Kulim, Malaysia has damaged around 30 houses.


Traffic along Grandjean Junction and Banner Summit has been closed by Idaho Transportation Department, USA due to an avalanche.


Great Lakes in Australia has been declared a flood disaster zone. Natural disaster recovery assistance will now include Gloucester, Great Lakes, Shoalhaven, Upper Hunter and Walcha areas.

Cyclone Tim is forming off northern Queensland - Australia's eighth cyclone of the season is likely to form in the Gulf of Carpentaria on Wednesday.

Heavy storm in Sao Paulo, the largest city in Brazil bringing floods and landslides which killed two including a 14-year-old girl.


The storm also damaged the shopping continental mall in the Jaguare district but nobody was injured.

Severe Cold Across Europe


Hundreds of drivers have been left stranded after snow brought some roads in Sussex, England to a standstill. Tailbacks of up to 15 miles were reported on the A23 between Crawley and Brighton, with some motorists stuck for up to eight hours. Police said snow and ice had caused hazardous conditions and officers were trying to help gritting lorries through to treat roads.


Heavy snow in north-western Europe is causing severe travel disruption, including the cancellation of hundreds of flights via Frankfurt and Paris.
