Seasonal flooding in Afghanistan's Baghlan province kills a child and damages more than 50 houses.


A landslide in Mawo Village near Bijie City of China has claimed the lives of at least three villagers. Eight villagers were buried in the landslide. Five people are still reported to be missing.


Tornado in Bulacan region of Philippines has badly damaged several houses. No injury has been reported.


Mudslide in Zojila, Kashmir along the Srinagar-Kargil Road has claimed the life of one person. The mudslide swept a Tata-Mobile vehicle carrying three people into a gorge. Zoji La is a high mountain pass in India.


Floods in Trinidad & Tobago. Farmers in Plum Mitan are facing a period of hardship after losing their crops to floods following two days of heavy rain.

Violent Storm Kills Six In Argentina


Six people were killed after torrential rain and powerful winds battered Buenos Aires, knocking out power, downing trees and damaging homes. More than 155 mm (six inches) of rain fell between midnight on Monday and 7am on Tuesday. That is a record for rainfall in April in the Argentine capital.

Mudslide in Arusha, Tanzania


A mudslide in Arusha, Tanzania has claimed 13 lives. Four people are still missing. The mudslide occurred at a gravel mine in the Moshono area of northern Tanzania.


Storm and Tornado in Torda, Serbia


A storm which spawned a tornado in Torda, Serbia has damaged more than 100 buildings. The tornado damage is estimated in the millions of dollars.

An avalanche in the the Ortles region of the Italian alps has claimed the lives of three skiers.

Cold and Snow in Russia


Central Russia is bracing itself for a powerful snowy cyclone, one that may prove the most powerful for March in the past half a century, according to weather forecasters. Anomalous snowfalls with gusts of wind are due in the Moscow Region later today. The peak of bad weather is expected on Friday and Saturday. Up to 25 centimetres of snow may fall summarily. All public utilities in Moscow have been alerted.


But weather has uncorked some unpleasant surprises in other Russian regions, too.


An avalanche has engulfed a small town of Ust-Katav in the Chelyabinsk Region, luckily, without any loss of life. In Voronezh, a powerful snowfall caused numerous road accidents.

Landslides:


At least eight people have died in landslide in Mofala of Sinja region in Jumla, Nepal. The landslide collapsed a house killing eight, including five members of same family.


Landslide in Sylhet, Bangladesh has killed three people and injured 10 others.


Landslide in Kudpora Waghama, in Bijbehara area, India has killed a 15 years old girl and injured 2 others.


Mudslide in Heilongjiang, China


At least eight miners are trapped in a mudslide in Zhenxing coalmine in Heilongjiang province of Northeast China.


Chinese mine disasters are the deadliest in the world.

Traffic along Grandjean Junction and Banner Summit has been closed by Idaho Transportation Department, USA due to an avalanche.


Great Lakes in Australia has been declared a flood disaster zone. Natural disaster recovery assistance will now include Gloucester, Great Lakes, Shoalhaven, Upper Hunter and Walcha areas.

Mudslide in Ipoh, Malaysia


Heavy rainfall has caused huge mudslide in Taman Kledang Permai in Ipoh, Malaysia. The mudslide has blocked Ipoh-Lumut highway.


Thailand authorities have declared Narathiwat a natural disaster zone. Continuous rainfall from some days has flooded almost the entire area of Narathiwat.

Tropical Cyclone Rusty


Tropical cyclone Rusty has damaged the power infrastructure in East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia, leaving thousands without electricity. Fallen trees and high winds have led to power outages in almost all districts. Kupang suffered a power blackout on Tuesday evening after the storm damaged the electricity cable network and forced the shutdown of a local power station.


The remnants of tropical cyclone Rusty are causing major flooding in the Pilbara catchment areas and river levels are expected to remain high for days. Around 4pm yesterday, two hours after all cyclone warnings were cancelled, emergency services said minor to major flood levels had been reached in the Nullagine, Oakover, Coongan and De Grey rivers, with further peaks possible in coming days.

-At least 12 killed and 20 others injured in Ecuador mudslides. Heavy rain in a gold-mining community in southern Ecuador caused mudslide.


-Mudslide happened after six hours of torrential downpours.


-Mudslides have destroyed houses and blocked roads in Pueblo Nuevo. Natural disaster area can only be reached by helicopter.


-Around 200 soldiers and policemen are working in rescue operations.

Tornadoes in central Queensland, Australia


-At least five tornadoes hit Queensland coastal towns, injuring 17 people.


-Burnett Heads and nearby Bargara have been declared as natural disaster areas.


-Tornadoes in Bundaberg district destroyed around 150 homes.


-About 2 000 people have been ordered to evacuate in Gladstone.


-Flood warnings have also been issued for the Calliope, Boyne, Baffle and Kolan Rivers.


-Australian weather bureau has predicted heavy rain and destructive winds for Brisbane of up to 125km/h until Monday

Floods Ease In Indonesian Capital, Thousands Left Homeless


Jakarta


 


Severe floods in Jakarta eased today, after unusually heavy monsoon rains swamped parts of the Indonesian capital in waist-deep water and left more than 20,000 people homeless.


Drownings, landslides and flood-related electrocutions have killed at least 11 people.


However, authorities warned of more rain and disruptions in the city of about 10 million people after Thursday's floods turned Jakarta's main thoroughfare into a stream of red mud.


Other main roads were still full of water and choked with traffic as commuters struggled to return to work and emergency workers tried to clear the mess.


Large areas of the city were still without electricity after state utility PLN cut power in some places to avoid the risk of electrocution.

High tides and strong winds have brought flooding to towns in the south-west England as more warnings are issued to coastal areas.


11 people have been killed and 10 are still missing after a village in Peru was hit by a mudslide.

Storms and Floods

While being stalled near the Philippines, Tropical Storm Gaemi caused flooding in the north and west Philippines, including the capital city of Manilla where more than 4 inches of rain fell earlier this week.


El Salvador has been hit by floods and mudslides after days of heavy rains. More than 120 people are dead and thousands of people have been left homeless.
