Oman - Severe weather in Oman has claimed the lives of at least three people. Two people due to flooding rivers in Al-Muthabi and Al-Rustaq. Another person died of a lightning strike in Al-Muthaibi. Torrential rain has lashed Oman for the past three days.

USA - A slow-moving storm continued to dump drenching rain over portions of the South on Wednesday, leading to dangerous and life-threatening flooding across the region. Evacuations were underway in Louisiana, where the governor declared a state of emergency and authorized the state's National Guard to assist with rescues from heavy flooding. Thousands of people were without power, several school systems closed and dozens of roads were blocked off Wednesday in Texas and Louisiana due to the storm.

England - Severe flooding has caused widespread disruption across parts of central England, with rail passengers stranded and many schools shut. British Transport Police formed human barriers in front of the main concourse at London Euston after trains between Rugby and Milton Keynes were cancelled. Passengers were warned people could be killed as some had fallen from earlier trains on Wednesday. A total of 46 flood warnings are in place across England and Wales.

Kenya - Flash floods floods in Kapsoya in Eldoret in Kenya have wreaked havoc on local residents, driving many from heir homes trying to avoid being swept away by the floodwaters.

Angola - At least 24 people, many of them children dies with dozens more missing after a flash flood swept through a market in the southern city of Lubango. The Capitao river was swollen with more than 24 hours of torrential rains.

Fiji - The death toll from tropical cyclone Winston has risen to 21. Many remote villages have been completely flattened by the slow moving storm with many communications lines still cut. The government has declared a 30-day state of natural disaster (state of emergency) and a curfew.

Nottinghamshire, England - A car was sucked into a sinkhole created by a burst water pipe in Nottinghamshire. The driver thought it was a puddle!

Cornwall, England - The highest level of flood warning, indicating a danger to life, has been issued for Portreath, a Cornish fishing port, following heavy rainfall across the South West. he Environment Agency said conditions in Portreath were "deteriorating quickly". People have been warned against driving through Bridge to reach the village. Floods have blocked numerous roads, causing traffic chaos across Cornwall.

Queensland, Australia - Heavy rains caused flooding in central Queensland from Friday. One driver drowned while a Monto farmer died while mustering cattle away from the floodwaters.

South Carolina, USA - Authorities urged another 1,000 homeowners to evacuate as a precaution Wednesday in the event a Columbia-area dam fails in flood-battered South Carolina. Authorities warned residents along South Carolina's coast Wednesday to prepare for more flooding as water from swollen rivers made its way towards the ocean.

England - Torrential downpours have brought flash floods to Britain along with train delays and washed out sports fixtures. There were astonishing scenes in Bradford after a dramatic thunderstorm left parts of the West Yorkshire city under ankle-deep water. The Met Office had a severe rain warning in place today for the top half of England, with more than an inch (30mm) of rain expected.

Australia - A tornado in the New South Wales town of Dubbo has damaged at least seven houses, scattered debris and uprooted trees. Roads were flooded across Sydney and the Illawarra, with the emergency services rescuing people stranded in cars after driving into floodwaters.

Turkey - At least eight people have died and two are missing due to floods and landslides in Turkey's Black Sea province of Artvin. Heavy rainfall has paralysed life in Artvin and its districts of Arhavi, Hopa and Borça. The main road linking the three districts has also been blocked to traffic due to the floods.

Kent, England - Dead rats are floating in the streets of Tunbridge Wells after flash floods swept the town last evening and more rain is expected to fall tonight.

Costa Rica - Heavy rains last weekend caused floods in Costa Rica’s Caribbean and northern regions. Pineapple and banana plantations were left with serious damage, and public infrastructure needs to be rebuilt as thousands of people that were evacuated return to their homes.

Venezuela - Venezuela's Apure state is facing its worst floods in years. Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro declared Friday a state of emergency in a town in Apure state, where heavy rains have spurred flooding. The floods in Paez are already being described as the worst to hit the area in over two decades. The disaster was triggered after more than two weeks of heavy rains caused two rivers to break their banks. More than 40,000 people have been affected, with scores of homes and businesses already severely damaged by floodwaters.

England - Flash floods hit parts of Dorset. The flash floods erupted just three days after the UK faced one of the hottest days on record, with temperatures reaching highs of up to 36.7C.

Hail and Tornadoes in Texas, USA

Six people are confirmed dead and as many as 100 injured as grape-fruit sized hail and tornadoes hit. One tornado ripped through a picturesque lakeside North Texas town, resulting in multiple fatalities and destroying or damaging homes. The death toll could climb higher as at least fourteen people are unaccounted for. Three tornadoes have been reported to have struck. The twisters damaged areas 5km east of Granbury that have about 110 homes. Another tornado hit the small town of Millsap, about 80km west of Fort Worth. Roof damage was reported to several houses and a barn was destroyed, but no injuries were reported. Hail as large as grapefruit also pelted the area around Mineral Wells.

Tropical cyclone Mahasen

Mahasen hit Bangladesh's southern coast, killing at least five. Hundreds of thousands of people in Bangladesh and Myanmar [Burma] were ordered Wednesday to move to safety as the cyclone barrelled towards low-lying coastal areas. A U.N. agency is warning that more than 4 million people could be in danger. Cyclone Mahasen buffeted Bangladesh's low-lying coast on Thursday, bearing down on the ports of Chittagong and Cox's Bazar, as tens of thousands of people huddled in shelters. Winds of up to 100 kph (60 mph) lashed the coast and whipped up waves, with an expected 2.1 metres (seven foot) storm surge and heavy rain likely to cause widespread flooding.

Tropical storm Alvin forms about 700 mi (1125 km) S of Manzanillo, Mexico. Alvin is the first tropical storm of the Eastern Pacific season and is expected to become a hurricane by Friday.

Severe Storms in England

Up to 3 inches of snow fell in Princetown in Dartmoor, Devon, Rhayader in Powys, and Newcastle-on-Clun in Shropshire – while Pembrey, Carmarthenshire, had 3 inches of rain in the 24 hours. The southern coast was hit hardest last night with police in Devon and Cornwall reporting slates coming off roofs and trees blocking roads, as rain lashed across much of the country. In Devon and Cornwall hundreds of homes were left without electricity. Residents were also bracing themselves for floods – with 14 separate alerts in place across the two counties.

Mudslide in Wrexham, Wales

Heavy rain has caused flooding and a mudslide in Wrexham. About 3ft (90cm) of mud was swept down a hillside road at Minera. There were 13 flood alerts in place across Wales today.

Deadly Landslide in Fujian, China

A landslide in Xiamen in southeast China's Fujian Province has claimed the lives of three people, including two children. Torrential rainfall caused the landslide at the Qianpu Flea Market in Xiamen early today.

As of 12:00 UTC, TC Mahasen was located 484 nm south-southwestward of kolkata, India.

Flooding caused by the cyclone Mahasen in Sri Lanka has claimed the lives of at least seven people.

A boat carrying about 200 Rohingya Muslims has capsized off western Myanmar. The victims in the boat were escaping Cyclone Mahasen but struck rocks off the Pauktaw township in Rakhine State and sank. There was only one survivor.

Hailstorms in Kakheti, Georgia, Russia

Hail has destroyed agricultural lands in Kakheti region of Georgia, Russia. Severe hailstorm damages are reported in Bakurtsikhe, Vejini, Kardenakhi and Kolagi.

Flooding has also been reported in Dzirkoki.

Severe weather in Cornwall, England

Heavy rain and gale-force winds have hit Devon and Cornwall in England. The Environment Agency has put 12 rivers across Cornwall and Devon on flood alert. The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for rain and severe gales.

The death toll from the flooding in Port Louis has risen to 11. Officials have declared April 1, 2013, a mourning day and a public holiday.

Tornado in Peterborough, England. The tornado hit around 2:30 p.m along Fane Road, Walton. It lasted for a maximum of four minutes and only caused minor damage.

Tornado in Bangladesh

A tornado has claimed 20 lives in Bangladesh, injuring more than 500 others.

The tornado overturned a bus, damaged houses and buildings and uprooted trees and destroyed crops. Affected areas are Sadar, Bijoynagar and Akhaura Upazilas of Brahmanbaria districts.

Heavy snow and rainfall in England

The Met Office has issued amber warning for heavy rain in south-west England and snow in Wales and Northern Ireland.

There are currently 12 flood warnings in the South West of England.

A woman is said to be trapped in a landslide in Looe, Cornwall.

Code yellow has been declared for dangerous weather over the whole of Bulgarian.

Lightning caused fire on the roof of Fairview Middle School in Franklin but it didn't harm students.

Flooding and landslides in Swansea and Pontypridd, Wales

-Several homes were evacuated after landslips due to flooding in a Swansea valley village and in Pontypridd.

-Flooding also disrupted train services between Cardiff Central and Bridgend, and Caersws and Machynlleth in Powys. -Lostwithiel in Cornwall and the area around Barnstaple in north Devon, England were also among the worst hit.

-People in Braunton, Umberleigh, Barnstaple and Bishops Tawton all suffered as Rivers Yeo and Caen burst their banks.

-There are currently seven flood warnings by the Environment Agency in Wales

Tropical Cyclone Four is located 420 nm east-southeast of Cape Guardafui, Somalia. This Tropical cyclone is expected to threaten portions of Somalia with heavy rain early this week.

Tropical storm Bopha forms in the Pacific and is located approximately 295 nm southeast of Chuuk, Micronesia.

Britain looks set to experience its worst series of floods since the great floods of 2007 when areas that had never flooded in living memory experienced what would turn out to be their worst floods in over 150 years.

The latest of a series of heavy rainfall-induced flooding is being experienced by the south and south west areas of England and Wales, with over 500 flood warnings in place nationwide.

-5 people reported to be killed in landslide as floods hit Panama.

-Panama has declared Capira, Chorrera and Colon disaster areas.

-The worst flood hit areas were Colon province on the Caribbean coast and the Capira area 60km west of Panama City. Storms damaged 800 homes.

-One killed and two others injured in recent disasters in Exeter City Centre. Flooding in Somerset, England also killed one person two days ago.

-More than 800 homes flooded by storms in England and Wales.

-Several flood warnings were issued by the Environment Agency in Lostwithiel, Helston, Polperro and Perranporth area.

-Because of a landslip at Honiton and flooding near Axminster in Devon, today trains between Exeter St Davids and Yeovil Junction were cancelled.

-Following Malmesbury Mayor Ray Sanderson, the flooding in Malmesbury is the worst that he has seen in a lifetime in the town.

-Around 271 flood alerts and more than 220 flood warnings remained in place across England and Wales.

-Heavy rainfall is expected to continue in the north of England and Scotland.

-The landslide reported off Church Lane in Old Sodbury, near Bristol. Six homes were evacuated.

-The Met Office today issued a yellow weather warning for Greater Manchester.

-The number of people killed in flooding in Ratnapura and Kamburupitiya area of Sri Lanka has risen to 5.

-Flood affected Sri Lankan districts: Anuradapura, Badulla, Moneragala, Ratnapura Hambantota and Galle and Matara.

-The Hambantota district was reported to be worst affected area. More than 300 families are affected by recent floods. More than 25 houses were damaged in Suriyawewa in the Hambantota district.

-Flood displaced more than 190 families in Moneragala.

-A man died following torrential rain in Somerset. His vehicle submerged in flood water.

-Stormy weather also caused travel disruption across Somerset and Bristol.

-Train services between Taunton and Exeter were cancelled because of flooding.

-Houses below Upper Camden Place in Bath were evacuated because of landslide.

-Galashiels (Scottish Border) also suffers flash flooding.

-Severe weather warning amber alert has been issued for Somerset.

Flooding in England continues as heavy rainfall has caused flooding in South Cumbria. Train services in Barrow, Whitehaven and Carlisle, and Barrow through to Preston and Lancaster have been affected. A flood alert was also issued for Upper Derwent, from Seathwaite to Derwentwater. Public transport has been affected near Barrow and Ulverston in Cumbria.

More than 2 000 people were evacuated as relentless rains brought floods to eight towns in three provinces in southern Mindanao, in the Philippines. Two children were reported dead in the floods, which hit the provinces of Davao del Norte, Compostela Valley and Davao Oriental.

The US Pacific Northwest is hit by a fierce storm bringing heavy rains and strong winds which swamped streets, toppled trees and large trucks, cutting power to nearly 50,000 homes.

Flash flood in Bahrain after Heavy rainfall caused flooding in Isa Town, Sanabis, Manama and Riffa regions of Bahrain.

Heavy rain continues to cause floods in the Midlands and South West of England. The British Environment Agency has issued 74 flood warnings in the South West and the Midlands and 113 flood alerts across the rest of the country. The villages of Yealmpton and Tamerton Foliot in Devon are worst hit. Schools have been closed in Worcestershire, Devon and Gloucestershire. Flooding at Tiverton Parkway and Birmingham New Street disrupted rail services in Gloucester, Bristol Temple Meads, Taunton, Yeovil, Exeter, Birmingham International, Coventry, Great Malvern and Hereford. Bus services in both Bristol and Somerset were also either cancelled or diverted. Heavy rainfall caused flooding around Rugby area. Two people were injured in Pailton. Following Warwickshire Police, Lawford road near Church Lawford has completely flooded. Mudslide also reported in Barby Lane near Rugby.
