Arkansas Forestry Commission crews worked to suppress 55 wildfires over the weekend, which consumed 1895 acres.

The Florida Forest Service is monitoring more than a dozen fires across northeast Florida on Monday. None are threatening homes or structures and have burned more than 1640 acres.

Oklahoma - Thousands of acres burned through Osage and Washington counties on Sunday as crews from nearly a dozen agencies did their best to get the wildfire under control. High winds and dry grass kindled the fire that threatened a casino, home, cars, and wildlife.

The Oklahoma wildfires have now burned at least 60,300 acres, according to the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry.

Fire officials say a large wildfire continues to burn Sunday morning, entering the fourth day of rough conditions for firefighters.

The Pharoah-Nuyuka fire is west of Okmulgee and has burned more than 20,000 acres. It was 30% contained as of Saturday night. Fortunately, no large new fires started Saturday, allowing crews to focus on the Pharoah-Nuyuka fire.

Wildfires spread through 20 Oklahoma counties, including LeFlore, on Thursday, scorching at least 40,000 acres, according to the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry.

Residents were evacuated in Pawnee, Okmulgee, and Harper counties, and the department reported several structures were destroyed by Thursday’s fires. The largest single fire was near Weleetka, which burned nearly 5,000 acres.

Oklahoma, USA - A swarm of more than 70 small earthquakes has rattled Oklahoma in the past week, raising concerns that the state’s quake problem is getting worse. The largest quake measured magnitude 4.8 and struck around midnight Wednesday near the town of Fairview. No significant damage has been reported, although it shook pictures and crockery.

Oklahoma, USA - The National Weather Service says “disastrous” flooding will occur in eastern Oklahoma, where some areas received up to a foot of rain over the weekend. The state department of transportation says high water has caused the closure of some roads in counties in the southern and eastern part of the state.

Britain - Hundreds of people have been evacuated from their homes in York after the city’s two rivers burst their banks, flooding houses, shops, businesses and threatening historical buildings. The River Ouse is up to four metres above its typical level but will not peak until tomorrow afternoon, while the River Foss is hitting record heights in urban areas.

Missouri, USA - A state of emergency has been declared by Governor Jay Nixon in response to widespread flooding in Missouri. At least eight deaths are connected to the high waters in the state. More rain and additional flooding is expected through Monday. River levels are expected to rise over the next few days.

Deadly Tornadoes Ravage Oklahoma - Update

The Oklahoma tornado death toll had risen to 51, but officials have now revised the number of deaths to 24.

Tornado heavily damaged Briarwood Elementary School in Moore, Oklahoma. 145 people including 70 children were injured. Several children were pulled out of rubble alive at Plaza Towers Elementary School in Moore. US President Obama has declared a major disaster in Oklahoma. The declaration means federal emergency aid will supplement local recovery efforts.

Landslide and Heavy Rain in Nepal

An associate professor of education at Montana State University, passed away in a landslide during trek to a remote village in the Arun River Valley in Nepal.

Floods have obstructed the Kawasoti-Narayangarh road section of the Mahendra Highway in Nepal. Hundreds of vehicles are stranded on the highway after floodwaters swept away a diversion built over the Lokaha stream earlier today.

Deadly tornadoes ravage Oklahoma

A dangerous, half mile-wide tornado struck near Oklahoma City Sunday afternoon, part of an extreme weather system moving through the central U.S. and stretching from north Texas to Minnesota.

At least one person is reported dead and 21 others injured in a series of tornadoes that have torn through the US state of Oklahoma. One of the tornadoes turned homes in a trailer park near Oklahoma City into splinters and rubble and sent frightened residents along a 100-mile corridor scurrying for cover. Twisters also hit Kansas and Iowa.

Storm in Kolkata, India has claimed the lives of three people including a three-year-old girl. The storms disrupted the flight services at NSC Bose International airport. Several local trains from Howrah station were also cancelled or delayed.

Flash flood emergency has been declared in Chicago. Four to six inches of rain has fallen in the past 24 hours over most of Northern Illinois.

Heavy rain and flooding opened a large sinkhole in Chicago. The sinkhole injured one person and swallowed three cars in the South Deering neighborhood on the Southeast Side of Chicago.

An EF-2 tornado touched down in Butler, Oklahoma, injuring one person.

Dozens of houses are reported to be flooded in Uppsala, Sweden. The Fyrisån river has risen by more than 20cm.

The death toll from the flooding in Port Louis has risen to 11. Officials have declared April 1, 2013, a mourning day and a public holiday.

Tropical Cyclone Rusty was located approximately 70 nm north-northeast of Port Hedland, Australia and has been stationary over the past six hours.

Australia's north-west coast is being buffeted by high winds, hours before the powerful cyclone is expected to make landfall as a category four storm. Weather experts say that the slow speed of Cyclone Rusty is likely to prompt extensive flooding. As much as 600mm of rain (24in) was being forecast over a 24-hour period, the equivalent of Perth's entire winter rainfall could fall in just three days.

Flash floods have affected people in Kuala Krai, Pasir Puteh, Tanah Merah in Kelantan and Setiu in Terengganu.

All nine schools in Rantau Panjang will be closed tomorrow.
