Myanmar - Another tragedy at the Myanmar jade mines when at least a dozen people were swallowed up after two piles of mining waste collapsed on Monday afternoon in Kachin State’s Hpakant jade mining region. Ten people remain missing. Last year, more than a hundred people died in a jade mine landslide in northern Kachin State.

France - One person was killed on Tuesday in a mudslide at a laboratory of France's national nuclear waste management agency in the northeast of the country. At least two people were working at the site which was being prepared to receive highly radioactive nuclear waste, which would be stored at a depth of 500 metres (1,650 feet). The second person suffered minor injuries.

Myanmar - Dozens of people are missing and feared dead after a landslide struck a remote jade mining region in northern Myanmar, the second such incident in a month. According to rescuers, one body was pulled from the rubble and at least 30 people were missing. A Nov. 21 landslide in the same region killed more than 100 people. The area is home to some of the world's highest-quality jade.

Britain - Almost 150 flood warnings have been issued as up to 120mm of rain is set to fall in the north of England – worsening situation in areas already saturated by winter storms. Troops were called in to assist in Cumbria as rain from Storm Eva started to drench northern Britain.

Alabama, USA - Several people were trapped underneath rubble late Friday as another tornado touched down in north-central Alabama in the latest wave of severe weather that’s hammered the South during Christmas week.

Britain - Brighton has been hit by flooding following heavy rain today, hitting the city's station and shops. Floods did temporarily disrupt trains elsewhere in Sussex, with services halted between Eastbourne and London, along with services between Lewes and Wivelsfield. Kent was also affected by the flooding.

Myanmar - Myanmar was evacuating parts of Hakha on Wednesday after mudslides wiped away hundreds of houses and torrential rain threatened further damage in the worst floods to hit the country in decades. The government in Hakha, the capital of impoverished Chin state in northwest Myanmar, was moving nearly 4,000 people to safety after landslides caused by rains destroyed 375 houses. At least 103 people have been killed and more than one million "critically affected" by the flooding, according to the government. Five out of six townships in Hakha, population 50,000, had been hit by landslides and another 900 houses were in danger of being damaged. Myanmar has halted all rice exports.

Myanmar Update - The death toll from flooding in Myanmar has climbed to 46, with more than 200,000 people affected, authorities said Monday. The flooding has affected residents in 11 of Myanmar’s 14 states and divisions. In addition to the damage to housing and farmland, infrastructure has been badly hit, with roads and rail lines cut in many areas and telecommunication links broken.

India - At least 81 people lost their lives and more than 80 lakh people were affected in fresh floods due to excessive rains in worst affected Gujarat, Rajasthan, West Bengal and Odisha. While the death toll touched 48 in West Bengal, 28 died in Rajasthan and five in Odisha, a home ministry statement said on Sunday. A total of 36,90,627 people in 9,691 villages of 210 blocks in 12 districts in West Bengal have been affected due to floods, while a population of 40 lakh in Gujarat and 4,80,399 in Odisha. In West Bengal, 48 deaths have been reported from various parts of the state during the floods owing to lightening, wall collapse, electrocution, snake bite and drowning.

Myanmar - More than 20 people have died and others are missing after weeks of unrelenting rain caused flash flooding in Myanmar. Severe weather in the north and west of the country also led to landslides, trapping many people in remote towns and villages. One report said up to 150,000 people had been displaced or had their livelihoods affected. More torrential rain is expected in the coming days. Continuous rain since 16 July had destroyed farmland, roads, rail tracks, bridges and houses, another report said.

Torrential rainfall and floods hit eastern France.

The River Ouche burst its banks and flood water trapped three people who were later rescued by Firefighters.

About 100 people were evacuated near Pont-et-Massene lake. A month’s average rainfall fell in 12 hours in Saône-et-Loire in Burgundy.

Yesterday France’s meteorological service Metéo France issued flood warnings in Ain, Cote-d’Or, Isère, Loire, Rhône et Saône-et-Loire. Metéo France had issued Orange Alert for those regions.

Landslide in Kalaw, Myanmar

Landslide in Kalaw, Myanmar after heavy rain has claimed the lives of at least 16 people.

Flash floods in Kalaw, Myanmar also destroyed 50 houses. Bad weather and thunderstorms are forecast till May 5 in Upper Myanmar.

Flooding in Florida

The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for southern Florida.

A heavy storm caused flight delays in both Broward and Miami-Dade. Miami International Airport cancelled 11 flights.

A tornado touched down in Boca Raton.

Flooding caused by heavy rainfall has claimed the life of one woman in the Argau region of Switzerland. Storm and flood damage is high in Aargau, Zurich, and Thurgau.

Flash floods in Klang Valley, Malaysia

Heavy storm has caused flash floods in the Klang Valley in Malaysia. Jalan Duta-Mahameru and Jalan Parlimen areas are worst affected by the flood.

Tornado in Modena, Italy

A tornado has hit Modena, southeast of Milan and damaged several homes, injuring at least 11 people.

Flooding in Auckland, New Zealand

Torrential rain has caused flash flooding in Auckland today. About 15mm of rain was recorded in one hour at Alexandra Park, in Epsom.

A floating sandstorm has been reported in Yinchuan, China.

Heavy spring floods are engulfing communities in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Ontario and Quebec, Canada, washing out roads and highways, threatening homes and prompting evacuations. Heavy snowfall and a late-blooming spring season have been the major factors.
