Flash floods in Gampaha, Sri Lanka

Flash floods in Wattala and Gampaha, Sri Lanka have affected about 480 people with 81 families living in four evacuation centers.

Flooding in New Zealand

Flooding and landslips reported at State Highway 1 between Blenheim and Seddon. Weld and Dashwood Passes are worst affected by the floods.

MetService New Zealand has recorded more than 500 lightning strikes in Central New Zealand last night including about 100 in Wellington alone.

Heavy rainfall has also caused flash flooding in Wellington, Christchurch and Marlborough. Air New Zealand has suspended all flights out of Wellington Airport.

Cyclone Zane forms off Australia's north Queensland coast

Tropical cyclone Zane, packing 100km/h winds, has formed off far north Queensland on the last day of the official cyclone season. The category-one system is predicted to hit the Queensland coast near Lockhart River on Cape York sometime tomorrow.

Massive landslip in Dorset, England

Landslip occurred at St Oswald's Bay, east of Durdle Door, on the Dorset coast. Several landslides occurred earlier this month at nearby White Nothe.

Floods in Oman

Heavy rainfall caused flooding in Wadis. At least 30 people were rescued from Ibri, Oman. At least 320 people have had to be rescued in the last seven days.

Lightning strikes have claimed two lives. At least three others were injured.

Power outages have also been reported in Ghubra and Al Khuwayr, Muscat.

Landslide in North Carolina, USA

Heavy rainfall has caused a landslide in North Carolina near the Tennessee border. The landslide also hit homes on Robert's Hill Road just outside Marshall.

Floods Ease In Indonesian Capital, Thousands Left Homeless

 

Severe floods in Jakarta eased today, after unusually heavy monsoon rains swamped parts of the Indonesian capital in waist-deep water and left more than 20,000 people homeless.

Drownings, landslides and flood-related electrocutions have killed at least 11 people.

However, authorities warned of more rain and disruptions in the city of about 10 million people after Thursday's floods turned Jakarta's main thoroughfare into a stream of red mud.

Other main roads were still full of water and choked with traffic as commuters struggled to return to work and emergency workers tried to clear the mess.

Large areas of the city were still without electricity after state utility PLN cut power in some places to avoid the risk of electrocution.

Mudslide in North Carolina, USA

More than 50 mudslides were reported across North Carolina. Mudslides were reported in Cherokee, Clay, Graham, Haywood, Jackson, Macon and Swain.
