Storms and Floods

Tropical Cyclone Zane


TC Zane is expected to hit far northern Queensland tonight or early tomorrow bringing a dangerous storm tide, heavy rain and winds up to 160km/h. But the weather bureau has cancelled a cyclone warning for parts of Queensland's Cape York after Tropical Cyclone Zane weakened rapidly overnight into a tropical low.


Floods in Saudi Arabia


Floods in Saudi Arabia have claimed the lives of at least 13 people. Four are still reported to be missing.


Flight services were disrupted at King Khaled International Airport in Riyadh.


It is believed to be the heaviest rainfall experienced by the desert kingdom in more than 25 years.

Storms and Floods

Tropical Cyclone Zane is located approximately 218 nm northeast of Cairns, Australia. Cyclone Zane is likely to strengthen into a category three storm today but should weaken before it makes landfall in far north Queensland.


Snow in Spring in Spain


Unseasonal weather blocks roads. Spain has been struck by unseasonal weather which has seen snow falling across the country. Eighteen provinces had extreme weather warnings in place with small roads blocked as temperatures hover around freezing.


Flooding in Saskatchewan, Canada


States of emergency have been declared in Maidstone, Radisson and Borden regions of Saskatchewan. More floods are expected due to very high spring run-off.

Cyclone Zane forms off Australia's north Queensland coast


Tropical cyclone Zane, packing 100km/h winds, has formed off far north Queensland on the last day of the official cyclone season. The category-one system is predicted to hit the Queensland coast near Lockhart River on Cape York sometime tomorrow.


Massive landslip in Dorset, England


Landslip occurred at St Oswald's Bay, east of Durdle Door, on the Dorset coast. Several landslides occurred earlier this month at nearby White Nothe.

Floods in Oman


Heavy rainfall caused flooding in Wadis. At least 30 people were rescued from Ibri, Oman. At least 320 people have had to be rescued in the last seven days.


Lightning strikes have claimed two lives. At least three others were injured.


Power outages have also been reported in Ghubra and Al Khuwayr, Muscat.


Landslide in North Carolina, USA


Heavy rainfall has caused a landslide in North Carolina near the Tennessee border. The landslide also hit homes on Robert's Hill Road just outside Marshall.
