Wildfires

Australian Bushfires


This morning the NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) said there were 142 bushfires burning across the state, 29 of them uncontained. Many of the blazes had been sparked overnight by a band of lightning, with more strikes expected.


Large bushfires also continue to burn out of control in Victoria.

Tasmanian wildfires


The wildfires on the Tasman Peninsula, east of Hobart, has claimed least 80 properties and left thousands of people isolated overnight. Almost 30% of properties in the town of Dunalley were destroyed. A major highway has been re-opened as interstate crews get set to fly in to help the fire-fighting effort.

Wildfires

A bushfire is threatening homes in the Gold Coast hinterland, Australia with two helicopters waterbombing the area near Mt Tamborine. Bushfires also claw through the Pilbara region.


14 wildfires in 12 eastern Kentucky counties, USA are burning.


Fresh snow is helping crews fighting wildfires in the small town of Wetmore and in Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado, USA.
