Storms and Floods

Tropical cyclone Evan forms in the Pacific approximately 40 nm west-northwest of Pago Pago, American Samoa. Flash floods and power cuts have hit the Samoan capital Apia as tropical cyclone Evan lashed the Pacific island nation with high winds and heavy rain. Tonga and Fiji may be next.


Storms in Mahikeng, South Africa


-Torrential rains and storms killed two people in Mahikeng, South Africa. Their bodies were found in Madibogo South.


-The Motsitlane, Dikgatlhong and Lenganeng sections of Madibogo township have been hit by heavy storms this week.


-14 people were killed when a bridge collapsed on the R65 between Lothair and Ermelo due to heavy rains yesterday.

Floods

Unprecedented rainfall of 20 inches in 24 hours in Kyushu, Japan leaves 19 people dead and 20 missing after floods and landslides. Rainfall at 4 inches an hour was measured during the downpour.

Storms

Tornado hits Weimar, Texas, USA. The local  High School is severely damaged. 8 people are injured. The hospital is also damaged sufficiently to require evacuation. A number of freight cars from a freight train were de-railed by the force of the winds.

Hailstorm in the northeast province of Gansu, China kills at least 24 people, with 32 still unaccounted for. The torrential rains following the hailstorm caused a landslide.
