Storms and Floods

Flooding in Phattalung, Thailand


More than 3,500 families in five different districts of Phatthalung over the Gulf of Thailand have been affected by recent floods. Floods destroyed a bridge leading to Moo 10 village in tambon Khao Jiak in Muang district of Thailand. People of Pa Bon, Tamot, Kong Ra, Si Nakharin and Si Banphot are said to stay in a high alert. More floods and mudslides are expected in coming days.

Floods Continue to Wreak Havoc Across Kenya


Five more people have died in Pokot County as a result of mudslides and floods following heavy rains that have been experienced in various parts of the country. This brings to 18 the total number of deaths as a result of the mudslides in the area and flooding after River Wei Wei burst its banks. 26 other people are as yet unaccounted for. Additionally 200 families have been displaced. In Kerio Valley, 12 people have been confirmed dead as 10 others were reported missing after mudslides swept away homes. The dead are mostly children. 500 people from the area have been relocated to avert further loss of life.
