Storms and Floods

Typhoon Soulik hits Taiwan.

Typhoon Soulik has claimed the life of at least one person and injured 21 others in Taiwan.

All schools and offices in Taiwan were closed today and several airlines including Cathay Pacific and China Airlines have cancelled their flights to Taiwan.

Taiwan authorities are distributing water pumps and sandbags to prevent flooding in low-lying areas.

China Marine Environmental Forecasting Centre has issued a red wave warning over Typhoon Soulik. Typhoon Soulik is expected to create waves up to 9 meters high in the Taiwan Strait, 4 to 6 meters in Zhejiang and Fujian provinces of China.

A flooded tributary of the Kosi river in Bihar, India has claimed lives of 10 people after their boat capsized.

Flooding in North Korea has claimed the lives of two people and made 760 people homeless.
