In the Eastern Pacific:
Tropical Storm Fausto is located about 1265 mi (2040 km) SW of the southern tip of Baja California.
In the Western Pacific:
Typhoon Neoguri is located approximately 379 nm southwest of Sasebo, Japan.
Neoguri has claimed life of a person and urged more than 500,000 people to evacuate in Okinawa region of Japan. More than 50,000 households in Okinawa have lost power.
Japan Meteorological Agency issued an emergency storm surge warning early Tuesday for Miyako island and adjacent islets in Japan's southernmost prefecture of Okinawa.
Neoguri is expected to make landfall at Kyushu area in southwest Japan on Thursday.
According to the US's National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Typhoon Neoguri is expected to be the most powerful typhoon to hit Okinawa island in Japan in 15 years.
The typhoon was named by the Republic of Korea. Neoguri means "raccoon dog."
Typhoon Neoguri has weakens to Category 3, but is still a major flood threat to Japan. The outer spiral bands of Typhoon Neoguri are lashing the large southern Japanese island of Kyushu as the storm heads north at 15 mph towards Japan.

USA - Severe storms in United States have claimed lives of at least five people and left hundreds of thousands of people without power in New York and Pennsylvania. Four people died in Smithfield, a town between Syracuse and Utica in New York state. Storm at a church summer camp near Manchester, Maryland claimed life of a boy and injured eight other children. The storms have also left about 72,000 homes and businesses without power, most in central and northern New York.
New Zealand - Severe storm brings hurricane-force winds and flooding to Northland. The storm snapped concrete power poles and felled massive trees from Cape Reinga to Kaiwaka.
