Wildfires Canada - Wildfires hit B.C. hard

Wildfire season made its first big surge of the year around British Columbia with 15 fires in the Prince George area alone Thursday.

Fires near Quesnel, Barkerville and Wells were reported the day before, and authorities blamed lightning as the cause of the blazes.

 

Arizona, USA

A wildfire in eastern Arizona's White Mountains continues to grow in size but so does its containment.

Fire officials say the San Juan Fire located 18 miles southeast of Show Low grew to nearly 11 square miles by Tuesday night, up from 10 square miles earlier in the day.

Meanwhile, containment of the fire is at 15 percent, up from 5 percent.
