Tropical Storm Erick

Tropical Storm Erick formed in the eastern Pacific off the coast of Mexico and quickly strengthened to become a hurricane. Hurricane Erick was located approximately 395 mi (640 km) SE of the southern tip of Baja California on Sunday. A Hurricane Watch is in effect for Manzanillo to Cabo Corrientes. Erick is forecast to approach the southern Baja California peninsula late today and pass near the southern portion of the peninsula tonight or early Monday. Swells generated by Erick are affecting the coast of southwest Mexico.

Huge waves hit Chile and Peru.

Waves as high as 7m (22 ft) have hit parts of Chile and coastal areas are on alert as high winds and tidal currents sweep across parts of South America's coast.

Huge waves surged onto the streets of Antofagasta in Chile where at least one injury was reported following the dangerous weather.

In Peru, parts of the country's coastline were hit with waves as big as 5m (16 ft) and the weather caused flooded streets in the seaside city of Chimbote.

Heavy rain in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, Pakistan. An emergency has been declared at Nullah Lai after heavy rain hit Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Sunday morning. According to the Flood Control Unit, 105 mm of rain has been recorded in the areas. Bad weather has also affected flights at the Benazir International Airport.

Flooding in Paraguay. A state of emergency has been declared after 15,000 people were evacuated due to flooding in the Paraguay and Parana rivers. According to Paraguay weather service, flooding has been caused by heavy rains over the past month in Brazil. The increase in water levels in the Parana river has brought flooding to Paraguay and Argentina.

A severe hailstorm buried a town in Mexico under two feet of hail Wednesday evening. The severe hail storm struck the town of Santa Rosa just after 6 p.m. MDT Wednesday, about 115 miles east of Albuquerque, with hail up to the size of golfballs, damaging multiple vehicles, homes and businesses. Many drivers were stranded on area roads and highways but there were no reports of injuries. Snow plows had to be brought out to clear the hail drifts.

Uttarakhand floods: India - Fresh rain disrupts relief operations.

A small tornado wreaked havoc on two North Cotabato towns in the Philippines Friday afternoon, toppling trees and power lines that left the towns without electricity until Saturday morning.
