Hazards affecting land - rainfall...Simon is expected to produce total rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches across the northern parts of the Baja California Peninsula and Sonora in Mexico through Wednesday. Surf...swells generated by Simon are affecting portions of the Baja California peninsula. These swells are likely to cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions.

Typhoon 19w (Vongfong), located approximately 510 nm south-southeast of Kadena AB, and is tracking northwestward at 07 knots.

Super Typhoon Vongfong became the strongest tropical cyclone of 2014 and fifth super typhoon (150 mph max sustained winds or higher) of the year after intensifying rapidly overnight Monday into Tuesday, U.S. time.

Tropical cyclone (tc) 03b (Hudhud), located approximately 562 nm south of chittagong, and is tracking west-northwestward at 09 knots.

France - Torrential rains Monday night left a trail of destruction in southern France. Overnight flash floods overturned cars, damaged roads and flooded homes as well as Mosson Stadium in the southern city of Montpellier. In just a matter of hours, the area just north of the city was hit with more than 10 inches of rain, more than double its monthly average.
