Storms and Floods

Heavy rainfall and floods in the Senegalese capital Dakar have unearthed treasures believed to date back several thousands of years. Ancient pieces of pottery and jewellery were found strewn in the streets after a day of torrential rain on Sunday.

Drought

Severe drought affects large area across Senegal, Niger, Chad and Mali. Children close to the edge of malnutrition wail for food. Aid agencies have not declared an emergency as the level of malnutrition is only 14%, one percentage point below the threshold.
