Tropical Storm 08w (Kujira), located approximately 46 nm southeast of Hanoi, Vietnam, is tracking west-northwestward at 05 knots.

Illinois, USA - The National Weather Service has confirmed a tornado in Coal City, Illinois at 9:58 p.m Monday. The tornado damaged homes, bringing down power lines and leaving roadways flooded. At least 5 people were reported injured. At least 13 tornadoes have been reported across the United States Monday night. The National Weather Service said the towns of Coal City, Sublette and Mendota were among the hardest hit by the severe weather.

Landslide in Ecuador


Heavy rainfall caused landslide in Ecuador which has buried at least 14 people. The landslide occurred in Tabete in the Chinca district of Esmeraldas, a coastal province in Ecuador.

Flooding in Grafton, Illinois


Flood waters of the Mississippi River peak at more than 11 feet.


Fargo, North Dakota, is also preparing for flooding.


16 Tornadoes Tallied So Far This Year In Mississippi.


The number of tornadoes confirmed to have struck parts of Mississippi so far this year has risen to 16.


The National Weather Service reported Monday (April 22) that three tornadoes were confirmed from severe storms last Thursday in the Mississippi Delta region.


Landslide in Guizhou province of China claims 9


A landslide in Guizhou province in China has claimed the lives of nine people. At least two people are still missing.


Around 10,000 cubic meters of rock debris buried the workers. Rescue work is under way.

Storms and Floods

Tropical Storm Nadine continues to spin in the Atlantic. Tropical Storm Nadine just won't give up. The storm has been spinning in the eastern Atlantic Ocean in varying stages of intensity, since September 11.


In the Western Pacific:


- Super Typhoon Jelawat is located approximately 430 nm south-southwest of Kadena Air Base, Okinawa, Japan. Expected to make landfall in Honshu, Japan. All models now track across Japan and into the Sea of Japan, but historically storms are not able to cross Japan's mountainous geography.


- Tropical storm Ewiniar - was located approximately 345 nm south-southeast of Yokosuka, Japan. No threat to land.


A tornado has been reported Tuesday evening near the town of Okawville, just outside Saint Louis, Illinois, USA.


Poachers killed two rhinos and chopped off their horns as they had strayed out of flood-hit Assam's Kaziranga National Park in northern India to escape floodwaters on Wednesday.

Hurricane Leslie is expected to hit Bermuda squarely Saturday night, before heading towards Canada. Hurricane watch is in effect.


Hurricane Isaac produced 9 tornadoes in Illinois during the period 31 August - 1 September.
