Tropical Storm Isaac grounds hundreds of flights in Miami and Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA before moving away from Florida towards the eastern Gulf of Mexico.

Typhoon Bolaven heads for South Korea slowly after injuring 4 people in Japan but causing no major damage beyond disrupting transportation and shipping and cutting pose to 75 000 homes.

Tropical Storm Isaac enters the Caribbean and heads for the Dominican Republic. Haiti issues hurricane warning.


Typhoon Igme hits Taiwan with strong winds and heavy rain.


Thousands of people have been displaced by flash floods in Niger.


Fresh floods have hit the Black Sea region in southern Russia where 171 people died in floods last month. 4 people have been reported dead.

Tropical Storm Isaac forms in the Atlantic and is heading towards the eastern Caribbean and the Leeward Islands.

Tropical Storm Bolaven forms in the Pacific and may enter the Philippine region as Typhoon Igme exists.

Torrential rains cause massive flooding in the Klang Valley, Malaysia.

Fresh floods reported from Dhemaji, India, affecting 25 000 people in 30 villages.

Typhoon Soala hits Taiwan with 58 inches of rain, causing chaos across the island as roads and farmlands flood.

31 more flood deaths reported in North Korea. The heavy rains have inundated the country's mines, causing severe damage and loss of output. The mines represent one of North Korea's few legitimate sources of foreign exchange.

Typhoon Damrey approaches southern China.

Tropical Storm Ernesto expected to form in the Atlantic on Friday.

Tropical storm Khanun forms in the Pacific and strengthens to become a typhoon. Khanun hits Kyushu, Japan, bringing heavy rain, floods and landslides. The typhoon is headed for South Korea.

Tropical Storm Talim is expected to hit Taiwan and batter the southern and eastern coast of China. China has issued a sea warning for the South China Sea.

Japan is hit by typhoon strength storm, killing at least three people and injuring 306. Thousands of travelers have been stranded as airlines cancel more than 600 flights both domestic and Asia bound.

Tornado and storm with hail the size of golf balls hits southern Minnesota, USA on Sunday.

Tropical storm Guchol/Butchoy has strengthened to become a super typhoon with wind speeds over 150 mph. The system is heading for Japan about 500 miles away.

Tropical Storm Carlotta hits Mexico's Pacific coast as hurricane, bringing strong winds and heavy rain. At least 2 people die.
