Volcanos

Roundup of Global Volcanic Activity

Karymsky (Kamchatka): Tokyo VAAC reports continuous ash emissions from the volcano.

Manam (Papua New Guinea): Ash emissions continue. VAAC Darwin reported a volcanic ash plume extending 140 km SE of the volcano at 20,000 ft (6 km) altitude this morning.

Dukono (Halmahera): An ash plume was visible on satellite imagery this morning, extending 50 km NE from the volcano (VAAC Darwin).

Santiaguito (Guatemala): Activity from the volcano has been low recently. Occasional weak explosions accompany the slow effusion of a blocky lava flow descending on the eastern flank of the Caliente dome.

Pacaya (Guatemala): Deep-seated strombolian activity produces small ash plumes from the Mackenney crater where glow can be seen at night.

Fuego (Guatemala): Activity has been elevated at the volcano. INSIVUMEH reported 36 weak to moderate explosions during 24 hours with ash plumes rising up to 1000 m above the crater and sometimes accompanied by shock waves. A lava flow on the upper SE side (towards the Las Lajas ravine) is active and was 300 m long last night.
