Uruguay Update - Flooding in South America has forced almost 6 000 people to flee their homes along the Uruguay River. More than 5 700 people fled their homes in Uruguay along the major waterway, as well as along some creeks flowing into it, since flooding started on May 26. The bulk of those affected are in Salto department, a mostly rural area, as well as neighbouring areas Artigas, Paysandu and Rio Negro, all on the country's western edge.

Bangladesh - Incessant rainfall triggered by the depression formed in the Bay of Bengal has inundated huge areas in Bhola and Bandarban districts, causing immense suffering to thousands of people. In Bhola, at least 30,000 people have been marooned as tidal water broke through dykes in Monpura and Tazumuddin upazilas. The depression that developed in the Bay of Bengal couple of days ago was sweeping across Bhola as a land depression. Local sources said the Meghna and Tentulia rivers flowing across the district have turned turbulent in effect of the depression. Tidal water was flowing about three-four feet above the normal level. Detached from the mainland and having no flood protection, Kolatoli Char, Dhak Char, Char Nizam and Char Shamsuddin areas are also being inundated during the high tides following the depression. People living in these areas are facing crisis of drinking water and food.
