In the Northern Indian Ocean: Tropical cyclone 03b (Shaheen-Gulab), located approximately 271 nm northeast of Masirah Island, is tracking west-northwestward at 09 knots.

Indonesia – Seven people have died after heavy rain caused landslides and flooding in Pariaman Regency, West Sumatra Province, Indonesia. Severe weather including strong winds and heavy rain struck on 29 September 2021. An eight victim died as a result of wind damage. The heavy rain caused at least 9 landslides in the area, according to disaster officials, with the most severe reported in Lubuk Alung district. Seven people died, 5 were injured and 280 families were affected. Flooding also affected the area, with flood waters up 2 metres deep reported. A total of 338 houses were damaged, with 12 severely damaged or destroyed. Wide areas of crops and dozens of vehicles were also damaged.

Thailand – As of 30 September Thailand’s Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department (DDPM) reported flooding has affected 229,220 households across 6,827 villages in 193 districts of 31 provinces. A total of 7 fatalities have been reported, including 6 in Lopburi Province and 1 in Phetchabun Province where 1 person was reported missing. Chaiyaphum Province is one of the worst hit areas, with 71,379 household affected, while in Lopburi a total of 56,138 households were affected. The heavy rain from the storm caused numerous rivers to overflow.
