In the Northwest Pacific Ocean: Typhoon 12w (Hinnamnor), located approximately 301 nm southwest of Busan, South Korea, is tracking north-northeastward at 14 knots.

In the Eastern Pacific Ocean: Tropical Storm 12e (Kay), located approximately 1225 nm southeast of San Diego, is tracking westward at 15 knots.

Bulgaria – Hundreds of people have evacuated their homes after damaging floods swept through villages in central Bulgaria. Torrential rain from 02 September 2022 caused rivers and streams to overflow flooding several villages in Plovdiv Province including Bogdan, Rozino, Karavelovo, Stoletovo, Pesnopoi and Trilistnik. The flooding was reportedly 1.5 to 2 metres deep in some areas. The entire village of Bogdan was under water at one point after an embankment along the Stryama River failed. At least 200 homes across the province have been damaged or destroyed. Damage to infrastructure left the area without electricity and drinking water. Bridges and roads were also destroyed leaving some villages isolated.

Senegal – At least 3 people have died in severe flooding in the city of Dakar, capital of Senegal, and surrounding areas. Neighbouring country The Gambia has also seen flooding over the last few days. Heavy rain began on 02 September 2022. Some southern parts pf the country saw as much as 88 mm of rain in 24 hours on 02 September. Mbour to the south of Dakar recorded 76.8 mm during the same period. The following day Dakar city recorded 77.3 mm. The Gambia Red Cross Society (GRCS) reported on 03 September there had been a “huge loss of properties in Rural Gambia due to incessant rain from last night. The situation of the increasing number of floods affected families is dire. More support is also needed to repair their damaged structures.”

Uganda – Homes were damaged or destroyed and several lives lost after heavy rain in the Western Region of Uganda caused flash floods and landslides. Uganda Red Cross reported heavy rain on 02 September 2022 triggered landslides in villages near Rubuguri in Kisoro Meanwhile heavy rain has also taken its toll in Bundibugyo District, where several people including children were reported missing after severe flooding struck in villages near Ntandi town on 02 September.District. At least 8 houses were destroyed or damaged, displacing or affecting 37 people. Three bodies of those missing were later recovered.
