Texas, USA - Heavy rainfall on a highway near Lubbock, Texas caused flash floods to push cars off the road and leave drivers stranded. The National Weather Service (NWS) had issued flash flooding alerts throughout the southern U.S. state of Texas on Thursday, warning of wind gusts up to 70mph and advising residents to stay off main roads and seek higher ground.

Japan - Tropical Storm Mawar has brought up to 10 inches of rain to Japan so far and has triggered mudslides and floods in the central and western regions of the country. Pedestrians in Tokyo clutched umbrellas as heavy winds blew tree branches and rain pounded the streets.
