Colombia's Nevado del Ruiz volcano spews ash and gas. The authorities have distributed more than 30 000 face masks to residents living near the volcano.
New activity also reported from Fuego volcano in Guatemala, Galeras volcano in Colombia and Poas volcano in Costa Rica.
