Sakurajima volcano in Japan has explosive eruption, sending large blocks of rock flying up to 1 300m from the crater and spewing an ash plume up to 11 000 ft.
New activity also reported:
Cumbal and Galeras volcanos, Colombia.
Ijen volcano, Eastern Java (Indonesia).
Tongariro volcano, North Island (New Zealand).
