Meningitis in Niger
An outbreak of the meningitis disease in Niger has killed 45 people since January, the Western African country’s health minister has announced.
“From January 1 to March 29, 2015, some 345 cases of meningitis, including 45 fatalities, have been reported, which is a fatality rate of 15.3 percent,” Health Minister Mano Aghali said.
The minister went on to say that all regions in the country were seeing cases of meningitis except Diffa in the southeast. He, however, assured that the epidemic had been contained and the situation is under control.
Foot and Mouth Disease in Zimbabwe - Update
The foot and mouth disease which broke out in Zvishavane last November has not yet been contained because Government has no money to fight the outbreak.
