In the western Pacific: Typhoon 30w (Nock-Ten), located approximately Located approximately 73 nm west-southwest of Manila, Philippines and it is forecast to move west-northwestward at 16 knots.

The typhoon has killed at least four people in the Philippines before passing over the capital Manila. The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said that as of 8 a.m local time on Monday, 77,560 families -- 383,097 people -- were in evacuation centers in Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol and Easter Visayas. Nock-ten is weakening as it passes over the Philippines, but is still packing maximum sustained winds of 240 kph (149 mph) with gusts up to 296 kph (184 mph). Some 11,476 passengers, more than 1,000 cargo ships and over a dozen other vessels were stranded in various ports in the region.

Australia - A massive Christmas night storm and heavy rain that has sparked damaging flash floods in Central Australia is being described as a once-in-a-half-century weather event by the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM). A quarter of the community of Kintore was evacuated after it was drenched by 232mm of rain in the 24 hours since 9:00am yesterday — taking the December total to a record 373.4mm. Northern Territory police said it had caused significant flash flooding woes for the 400 people living in Kintore, which is located about 520km west of Alice Springs near the Western Australia border.

Malaysia - Continuous rain, sometimes heavy, in the Cameron Highlands since Sunday (Dec 25) morning caused flooding in several areas in Tanah Rata, including the police quarters at Jalan Masjid. The heavy rain also caused a landslide and fallen trees at Jalan Tapah-Tanah Rata near Bharat Tea Baru.
