In the South Indian Ocean: Tropical Cyclone "Carlos" (04S) has formed east of Madagascar on February 4, 2017 as the fourth named tropical cyclone of the 2016/17 southern hemisphere season, the fewest on record since 1928. Carlos could affect Mauritius and RĂ©union as a significant tropical storm. The current forecast track takes it right over RĂ©union on February 7.

Malaysia - Residents from several houses in Brinchang were forced to flee their houses following flash floods yesterday. Cameron Highlands Fire and Rescue chief Mohd Haziq Hazmi said water rose to one-meter high before subsiding, leaving a thick layer of mud. He said a number of houses in Kampung Lama, Tringkap were also affected by the flash flood, but none of the residents were evacuated.
