Storms and Floods

Tropical Storms - Roundup of Tropical Storms:

In the South Indian Ocean: Tropical Cyclone "Carlos" (04S) is moving toward the islands of Mauritius and Reunion and is expected to bring wind gusts of 80 km/h, strengthening in some areas on Monday night. High seas are anticipated. Flood-like situation may also affect the rivers and waterways. People are advised not to venture to these locations and avoid sea excursions. Carlos is moving southward at 9 km/h.

Fiji - Heavy rains from last night until this morning caused flash flooding with more rain forecast throughout the week.

Australia - Rain battered Victoria on Sunday and led to flash flooding, power outages and damages to homes in the Melbourne area. Only 5-10 millimetres of rain is expected on Monday, following on from a wet Sunday that saw up to 33mm in parts of Melbourne and 46mm at Arthurs Seat.

USA - The Wisconsin River has reached flood stage at Portage, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a flood warning for Columbia County. The river reaches flood stage at 17 feet. As of 5:45 PM on Sunday, the river was at 17.84 feet.

USA - Ada County Highway District crews worked to clear heavy flooding in the Southfork Subdivision near South Cole and Amity roads in Boise, Idaho. Homeowners placed sandbags around their properties as ACHD trucks worked to pump water from the streets.
