Tropical Storms – Roundup of Tropical Storms:

In the North Indian Ocean: Tropical cyclone 02b (Asani), located approximately 519 nm south-southwest of Kolkata, India, is tracking northwestward at 08 knots.

In the Southern Hemisphere: Tropical cyclone 25s (Karim), located approximately 357 nm west of the Cocos islands, Australia, is tracking southward at 07 knots.

Thailand – At least one person has died and homes, roads and bridges have been damaged after flash floods in southern Thailand following days of heavy rain. Heavy rain and flooding from 05 May 2022 has affected over 350 households in districts of Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Chiang Mai and Nakhon Phanom provinces. Roads, bridges and houses were damaged or destroyed.

Pakistan – A massive flood along the Hunza River in northern Pakistan has destroyed a bridge and dozens of buildings. Glacier Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF) from the Shishper glacier on 07 May 2022. Local observers said the flood was caused by recent warmer weather. Police in the area said flooding destroyed a bridge in Hassanabad, Hunza, severely disrupting traffic along the along the Karakoram Highway.

USA, West Virginia – The Governor of West Virginia, USA, declared a state of emergency for 3 counties affected by heavy rain and flooding from 06 May 2022. Communities in the city of Huntington, Cabell County, have been particularly badly affected. Severe damage to public and private property as well as a disruption of utility services was reported. Severe flooding was also reported in Spencer in Roane County, where homes were damaged.

Alaska – An ice jam along the Tanana River has caused flooding in areas of Manley Hot Springs, Yukon–Koyukuk Census Area, Alaska, USA. National Weather Service described the flooding as the worst in 45 years. Residents were evacuating to higher ground.
