Wildfires – New Mexico
The Hermits Peak / Calf Canyon Fire has grown to 160,104 acres and has destroyed 170 residences and 117 other structures. Six Structure Protection Groups across the fire have been focusing on removing fuels, constructing line, and deploying other protection measures around homes and communities. Containment is at 20%.
The Cerro Pelado Fire has burned 30 000 acres. The communities of Cochiti Mesa and Peralta Canyon, including Cox Ranch, are under mandatory evacuations. Containment is at 13%.
