Wildfires are wiping out one of Greece’s major export products

Wildfires in Greece are impacting not just humans but the bees that make pine honey, a major export. As extreme weather rages, the country is increasing funding available to battle the flames and bringing in firefighters from around Europe.

Wildfires – Czech Republic

As many as 900 firefighters are now battling fires in the Czech Republic’s Bohemian Switzerland National Park, the local fire and rescue service said Monday. 200 tank trucks, 18 helicopters and 5 planes have been deployed to combat the fires that have been raging for nine days now. The fire spans the borders of the Czech Republic and Germany, and countries such as Slovakia, Poland, Italy, Germany and Sweden have dispatched firefighting aircraft to control the fires.

Wildfires – British Columbia, Canada

Evacuation orders have been issued to 324 properties in the southern interior of British Columbia following the significant growth of bushfires in Kerimos Creek over the past day. As of Monday at 2:30 p.m. PT, the area of ​​the fire in southwest Penticton was estimated at 22.6 square kilometers, more than five times the estimate given the day before.
