Tennessee, USA - Extreme winter weather has claimed the lives of at least 22 people over the past six days.

Queensland, Australia - Yeppoon, Rockhampton and Gympie inundated by floodwaters following Tropical Cyclone Marcia’s passage. Thousands of homes remain without power.

Switzerland - An avalanche in Valais Alps in Switzerland claimed the lives of four Italian skiers on Saturday.

Bosnia & Herzegovina - A landslide in a Bosnia and Herzegovina coal mine has claimed the lives of at least four people. The landslide occurred at an opencast lignite mine at Dubrave in northeast Bosnia and Herzegovina The people were buried while illegally collecting coal. However, the area could not be approached with big machines because of mud and huge piles of earth.

Afghanistan - An avalanche in Afghanistan's Badakhshan Province has claimed the lives of at least twelve people. Heavy snowfall has also destroyed ten houses in Raghistan district.

UK - Flood alerts have been issued across the south east as wintry weather and blizzards look set to hit large swathes of the UK. There are currently more than 50 flood alerts out across England and Wales, with the majority in the south of the country. The River Thames burst its banks at several points yesterday, as high tides and heavy rain hit west and south London.

Israel - At least 80 Palestinian homes have been flooded after water levels in the Gaza Valley (Wadi Gaza) rose to almost three meters, forcing families to evacuate after Israeli authorities opened several dams.
