Assam, India - Floods today engulfed more districts in Assam amid heavy deluge and pouring waters of overflowing rivers in the state affecting three lakh (300 000) people even as the Army swung into action in Chirang district for rescue works. The state continued to be under the grip of floods with the deluge today spreading to nine districts from Thursday's seven, Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) said. The affected districts are Lakhimpur, Golaghat, Morigaon, Jorhat, Dhemaji, Sivasagar, Kokrajhar, Barpeta and Bongaigain where three lakh people in 464 villages are affected by the swirling flood waters, it said.

Arunachal Pradesh, India - Incessant downpour over the past couple of days has triggered landslides and floods in several districts of Arunachal Pradesh. Besides damaging culverts and some buildings, the floods and mudslide submerged low-lying areas and a rural link road and disrupted power supply. Many domestic animals were also reported to be washed away in the mudslides.
