COVID-19

China – In mainland China, the number of new infections fell significantly to 397, with another 109 people dying of the disease. The new figures bring the total number of cases in mainland China to 76,288 with 2,345 deaths.

South Korea – South Korea confirmed 52 more cases of novel coronavirus on Friday as the number of infections linked to a religious sect in Daegu spiked, making it the worst-affected country outside China. Thirty-nine of the new cases were connected to the Shincheonji Church of Jesus in the southern city of Daegu, the Korea Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) said, taking the country’s overall figure to 204.

Italy – The first European to succumb to the coronavirus has died in Italy, just hours after 10 towns were locked down following a flurry of new cases. Italian health officials reported at least 16 COVID-19 cases today.

Iran – Iranian health officials reported an additional 13 COVID-19 cases and three deaths today. Total cases stand at 28 with 4 deaths.

Yellow Fever – Uganda

From 4 November through 14 February 2020, eight laboratory confirmed cases of yellow fever in Buliisa (3), Maracha (1) and Moyo (4); including four deaths (CFR 50%), were detected through the national surveillance system.
