COVID-19
China – China had 150 new confirmed deaths from the coronavirus on Sunday. The national health commission also confirmed 409 new infections during the current period, down from 648 reported a day earlier. The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases on the mainland is now 77,150, and 2,592 have died from the outbreak, the commission said.
South Korea’s cases continued to balloon, reaching 833 with seven confirmed deaths.
In Italy, at least 152 cases and four deaths have been reported in the country’s north, prompting emergency measures in Europe.
Meanwhile, Turkey, Pakistan and Armenia have closed their borders with Iran, as authorities reported 43 coronavirus infections and 12 deaths.
Kuwait reported three cases, while Bahrain and Iraq each confirmed one, bringing the number of countries in the Middle East with the virus, known as COVID-19, to eight.
Dengue Fever – Easter Island
On 7 February 2020, the Chile IHR National Focal Point informed the Pan American Health Organization / World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) of the detection of three confirmed cases of autochthonous dengue fever reported on Easter Island.
