In the Eastern Pacific Ocean: Hurricane 06e (Felicia), located approximately 1141 nm south-southwest of San Diego, is tracking west-southwestward at 08 knots.
In the Northwest Pacific Ocean: Tropical depression 09w (Nine), located approximately 423 nm southeast of Kadena AFB, is tracked northwestward at 09 knots.

Germany – The official death toll from flooding in western Germany has now increased to more than 100 people, with many more still missing. Transport, telecommunications, power and water infrastructure have been severely damaged, impeding damage assessments. As of 16 July there were still an unknown number of people unaccounted for, including 1,300 people in Bad Neuenahr, Ahrweiler district of Rhineland-Palatinate. Search and rescue operations are continuing. The full extent of the damage is still to be confirmed but dozens of homes are thought to have been completely destroyed after rivers broke their banks in particular in Schuld municipality in the district of Ahrweiler. Hundreds of troops from the Bundeswehr (German army) have been deployed to help with clean-up operations.
Arizona, USA – The state of Arizona declared a state of emergency for areas affected by Monsoon storms and flash flooding. Flooding has damaged roads and homes, while one person has died in the floods in the Grand Canyon National Park. The City of Flagstaff was among the hardest hit areas. Torrents of water raced down the slopes surrounding the city, swamping streets from 13 July. Local observers said rain fell on burn scar areas in the hills surrounding Flagstaff and flowed swiftly towards the city below.
Uganda – Rivers have overflowed in Western Region of Uganda, flooding wide areas of Kasese District. Meanwhile rising levels of Lake Kyoga has caused hundreds of households to evacuate in Northern Region. At least 30 villages have been affected in Kasese District. Homes, livelihoods, crops and roads have all suffered damage. Water levels on Lake Kyoga have submerged coastal areas of Amolatar District in the Northern Region of Uganda.
