Washington State, USA – Parts of Western Washington are covered in water, forcing families from their homes. The city of Sumas is flooded after the Nooksack River overflowed its banks overnight. Only once before this century has the entire city of Sumas been covered in water. The USA/Canada border crossing had to be closed.
Rwanda – Flooding and mudslides triggered by heavy rainfall have claimed the lives of at least 13 people in Kigali, the capital city of Rwanda. Floodwater swept away 15 houses in Kigali and left some roads inaccessible.
