Wildfires – Oregon, USA
At least nine people have died in wildfires that have burned relentlessly across western Oregon. After five days of enormous wildfires consuming the landscape up and down the west side of the state, officials count more than 1 million acres burned and tens of thousands of people forced to leave their homes. Countless homes and businesses have been scorched.
Wildfires – California, USA
August Complex – As of 8 p.m. on Sept. 12, these fires had burned 875,059acres and were 25% contained. This is now the largest recorded fire in California history.
North Complex – As of 7 p.m. Sept. 12, these fires had burned 258,496 acres and 22% contained. The North Complex West (formerly the Bear Fire) makes up 73,000 acres the total and is 10% contained.
LNU Lightning Complex – As of 7 p.m. on Sept. 12, these fires have burned 363,220 acres and were 96% contained.
SCU Lightning Complex – As of 7 p.m. on Sept. 12, these fires have burned 396,624 acres and were 98% contained. Full containment is expected around Sept. 12.
CZU Lightning Complex – As of 7 a.m. on Sept. 12, these fires have burned 86,509 acres and were 86% contained.
