In the North Atlantic: Invest 97L is an area of disturbed weather in the North Atlantic that has the potential for further tropical development.

In the Western Pacific: Typhoon 06w (Nida), located approximately 187 nm east-southeast of Hong Kong, is tracking northwestward at 18 knots.

Over 120 flights to and from Hong Kong have been canceled as Typhoon Nida barrels toward the city and southern China, after battering the Philippines over the weekend.

Bangladesh - More than a week of flooding has claimed at least 14 lives in the northern districts of Bangladesh. The fatalities are from three districts - Jamalpur, Kurigram and Gaibandha. Floods caused widespread damage to habitation, crops, roads and highways forcing thousands of people to live in schools, community halls and other relief centres.

Maryland, USA - A torrent of water caused by an intense storm ripped through Ellicott City's historic downtown Saturday evening, killing two and causing massive destruction in an old mill town that will take weeks if not months to recover.

Canada - After going through wildfire hell recently, Fort McMurray is going through high water, as heavy morning rainfall flooded parts of the town and surrounding areas.
