China – Further heavy rain and flooding has struck in Guizhou Province, China. Xinhua news agency reports at least 3 people have died and 10,000 have been displaced after flooding in the mountainous area of Tongzi County on 22 June. Around 10 houses were destroyed and over 1,000 houses damaged, along with 715 hectares of crops. Power supply and telecommunications were interrupted.
Nepal – Local media report that days of rainfall triggered a landslide along a section of road near Tansen in Palpa district, central Nepal, on 22 June, 2020. Four vehicles were swept away. The number of passengers in the vehicles swept by the landslide is unconfirmed. As of 22 June, police reported 3 fatalities.
India – According to Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), 16,549 people had been affected in over 50 villages in the districts of in Barpeta, Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Nalbari, Jorhat and Sivasagar since 20 June. Over 50 people have evacuated their homes and moved to relief camps in Dhemaji. Almost 3,000 hectares of crops have been damaged. Several rivers in the state are flowing above danger level, including the Brahmaputra in Jorhat, and the Dikhow and Disang in Sivasagar.
Turkey – Flooding struck the Kestel district of Bursa province on 21 June. After initial assessments, the provincial government reported two people had died and four were believed to be missing in the floods. Raging flood water swept through narrow streets of several neighbourhoods in the district, including Dudakli, Narlidere, Aksu and Kayacik.
Malaysia – Over 1,000 people have evacuated their homes in Malaysia‘s Johor State after flooding struck on 21 June. Flooding affected the districts of Pontian, Batu Pahat, Muar, Kluang, and Tangkak. A total of 1,210 people from 288 families were evacuated to 18 relief centres as a result. The worst hit areas was Pontian, where 349 people from 85 families were evacuated. More than 60mm of rain fell in 24 hours in several locations in the state on 20 June. Heavy rain was also reported in the capital, Kuala Lumpur , which recoprded 119.0mm of rain in 24 hours to 20 June.
